Farmers Market Pick-Ups

Each week we have teams of volunteers who meet at the Cascades Farmers Market at 12:30 p.m. (The Cascades Market is located at 21060 Whitfields Place, Sterling, Virginia in the Senior Center parking lot.) Volunteers load donated produce into a van that is driven to the Loudoun Hunger Relief food pantry in Leesburg. All you have to do is show up and load crates into our van! (Note: Be sure to arrive by 12:30; we are usually finished by 1:15.) Pick ups start April 1st and usually end in November.

Some local farms and orchards allow us to pick fruit and produce toward the end of the season (usually in the autumn). For example, we pick apples at Crooked Run in Purcellville almost every week beginning in September. If you would like to coordinate a volunteer group to glean for us, contact  If you would like to show up and glean whenever you have a little extra time, check our Facebook page to find out where we will be gleaning each week.

Gardening Expertise

Do you have a green thumb?  We often need gardening expertise to support the work of  Community Gardens.  For example, Feed Loudoun recently helped a local organization plan, build, and sow a donation garden that is harvested by volunteers.  If you know something about gardening, we could use your help to get more of these projects off the ground!

Alternatively, consider planting a donation row in your own garden.  Every little bit helps!
