What and Who is Loudoun Plant a Row (PAR)?
Loudoun Plant A Row, founded in 2009 by Julia Brizendine, is part of a national grass roots organization started by the Garden Writers Association known as 'Plant a Row for the Hungry'. The national Plant A Row for the Hungry program is a people-helping-people program designed to assist in feeding the hungry in our own community. Launched in 1995, this national public service campaign was developed to encourage gardeners to grow a little extra and donate their produce to local soup kitchens and food banks that serve the homeless and hungry.
- Loudoun Plant A Row currently donates 100 percent of their collected produce to Loudoun Interfaith Relief food pantry in Leesburg, Virginia.
- Loudoun Plant A Row is a uniquely community-based program and we serve Loudoun County exclusively.
Loudoun PAR Mission Statement:
Our mission is to promote the growing and donation of local fresh fruits and vegetables through gardeners, farmers and agri-businesses for the purpose of feeding the county's hungry.
